so i rescued my dog and he was overweight when i got him. The vet said he really should only lose 5-7 pounds to be an optimal weight. I am feeding him California Natural chicken and rice, which they do not have a weight control formula in. I was wondering if lowering the amount of food he is fed and giving him plenty of exercise is sufficient enough for him to lose the weight he needs to.
ps. California Natural does come in a weight control formula, but it is lamb and rice and he is allergic to lamb.

I know there are no magic pills for weight loss, but I need something to go along with my diet an excercise. If anybody has used any of those products please tell about your success.

I try to post good answers to weight loss questions, but I am constantly noticing that there are tons of spammers here touting highly dubious products. Is that allowed on YA? Is it OK to place an ad for your product or is it against the rules? What exactly is “spam” in the definition of YA? And if this stuff is considered spam, then why is it so prevalent on certain topics?

I have been dieting and working out since the beginning of the year (Literally January 1st, 2009). I started out weighing 294 pounds (Im 6′0 tall) and now i am down to 252 while only taking “Mega Green Tea’ pills as a supplement. I have been trying to go all natural so far but i read about whey protein and its benefits. My weekly routine is Monday, Friday wiehgt training, and tuesday, thursday conditioning. I started to take the weigh protein after every wight training workout about 2 weeks ago, and i have not lost any weight since, in fact i have gained about 5 pounds since. I am taking a high quality Whey protein with only 135 calories (15 fat calories wich are the ones i closely follow) Per scoop. I take one scoop with 8 oz. of 1% milk. My question is what relevance might the whey protein be having with the slower weight loss? Thanks in advanced.

Hello, my wife and I are working at losing weight. being a man I of course am losing it faster than she is. We usually lose between 1-3 lbs. a week. However every few weeks she goes a week without losing anything. I’ve had a week like that myself. I think its natural so I didn’t let it get to me. It makes my wife discouraged. Is it a normal part of weight loss? If it is And I can give a scientific explanation that might make her feel better.

I am 31 years old. I have two kids and have gained excessive weight after both of them. I had a cessarian with the first and natural with the second. I’m pear shaped so it’s mostly in my hips and buttocks. I have a desk job so I sit a lot and I’m always too tired feeling to work out at night. I’ve been on every diet under the sun to only gain it all back. I’ve tried numerous excersises also. Over the counter weight loss pills or energy pills give me a racing heart. When I do loose weight I get the saggy belly that hangs between the legs when I sit and bend so how would I be able to find out how would be the best way to loose weight effectivly for myself and my body type and keep the sagging away. Please help.
