Are you taking the whey protein shakes as meal replacements or adding them in addition to normal meal?
For dieters, whey protein shakes are used a meal replacements. You replace breakfast and lunch with a shake and eat a sensible dinner. using whey protein like this it would be difficult to gain weight. Like you said, the shake is 135-200 calories which is far less than normal meal. Lowering your caloric intake should lead to weight loss.
The whey protein shake has about 20 grams of protein. That much protein in one sitting will make you feel satisfied and reduce hunger. In addition whey protein has been shown to produce appetite suppressing hormones in the body (maybe due to high level of protein absorption?)
Now, if you drink these shakes in addition to your normal meals, than you are increasing your daily caloric intake, which will lead to weight gain

What´s actually happening, is that the Fat in your body is getting substitued by muscles.... Muscles weight more than fat...
What i'd recommend you is something like Hydroxycut Hardcore.
It will help you burn the fat faster and help you gain muscles faster...
I'd also recommend you doing cardio at least 4 times a week.
I hope this helps...!

Taking extra protein is always a good idea if you are trying to build muscle and building muscle is a great way to burn off fat. For every pound of muscle you put on you will burn an extra 50 calories each day. I don't believe that taking protein would make you gain fat but it will help you repair and build muscle (or make your muscle fibers bigger). If you've been on a calorie restrictive diet some of the weight you've lost is most likely muscle too. The extra 5 pounds might be muscle so I wouldn't worry about it. Keep eating healthy and working out and you'll get there.
