anything you THINK you should not eat. The obvious: junk food, fast food, candies, pop, processed food...try to cut back in fatty carbs and all natural food would really help (you notice how all those organic people are usually really skinny)

Gosh, there is a long list if all you're going by is food selection. Big Macs, cheesecake, just about anything fried.
With lots of discipline you can lose weight that way, avoiding most of the really good stuff.
I find it much better to count calories. That way, if I want cheesecake, I just figure that into my daily calorie allotment. Won't eat a whole slice, maybe just a third. But, I still get my cheesecake! Same with anything else I get a craving for.
Good luck.

All fast food, junk food, and pre-packaged food. These all contain high calories, sugars, and sodium. Even "healthy choice" pre-packaged food are really high in sodium unless stated otherwise.

You are right, there are some foods that look healthy but are not, especially for weight loss. Let me explain about carbohydrates. Simple carbs like Irish potato, white breads, white flour products, bleached rice etc are quickly absorbed into the blood stream because they take so little time to break down in the body. When they hit the blood stream they are stored either as fat or sugar. Complex carbs like wheat products, sweet potato, brown rice take a while longer to break down so by the time it does the body will have used most of it for fuel or energy. Complex food are more filling and less fattening. So have the more complex and stay away from simple carbs.
Also try avoiding sweets and fat. Actually having ice cream once per week early in the morning may put your system in gear for another week of diet. Let me explain. After dieting for a week or two you might find that you are not losing too much weight or you plateau (your weight is at a standstill, not moving). This simply means that your body has gone into starvation mode and starts to live off the reserves in your body. Feeding it something on the opposite side of the fence will trick it into believing that you are once again eating normally. Sometimes our bodies take on a mind of their own.

Stay away also from too many carbohydrates. These are "fillers" that are low in nutrient value. That does not mean skip out on them all together...don't! Your body needs some. The key is to eat a well balanced diet. A variety of foods will make sure that you are getting the right amount of nutrients your body needs.
Don't fill up on something because you feel hungry. Eat slowly, and your brain will register that you are full before you over eat.
Here's some healthy ideas of "fillers" that won't take your diet a step backwards:
Edamame (eat raw in a veggie tray or cooked with a tiny bit of oil and garlic, like a fresh stir fry)
Pea Salad (add two cans low sodium peas, some shredded cheddar cheese and a bit of mayo, just enough to coat the "salad." Sprinkly with salt to taste when serving. Not too much though! Pepper goes well too.)
Anitpasto salad (easy one here! just make a bowl, small or large, of your favorite items such as salami, black olives, green olives, pepperoncini peppers, cucumbers, bell peppers, oinion, carrot, whatever strikes your fancy. Toss with a little italian dressing, and viola! healthy AND hearty.)
Key to remember, which it seems you already found out, food manufacturers that label their food as "diet" or "only XXX calories" fail to mention a couple of key things:
1. you take the fat out, you have no taste. in order to combat that, they add sugar and salt. This is why I will not buy "low fat" dressing, such as for the recipe above. look at the label in the store next time you go. the sugar content for example is much higher in the "healthier" option.
2. most of the items you will find that are "less calories than other brands" etc. are usually a much smaller portion size. For example, a 3 musketeers bar regular size is about 4 oz. A "low fat" one that boasts 50% of the fat of the regular size bar is only about 2 oz. Manufacturers tend to think consumers are stupid.
Here's one of my favorite website:http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
Here you can calculate your bmi, find healthy, filling recipes and learn tips on controlling your weight from the National Instutute of Heath.
Hope my ideas helped a little. :) Good luck, you can do it!!

Twinkies ( I find the yummy cream filling just goes to my hips)
ho hos (they say hos got to eat too, but not on my waistline)
yodels (just an elongated version of the ho ho)
chocolate cream Pie (just way too messy)
Ben & Jerrys all natural real Ice Cream topepd with crushed oreos, gummy bears, whipped cream and three cherries (alright maybe just one scoop)
A Double Whopper with extra cheese (althought this is O.K. as long as you have a diet coke with it)
I would also avoid even driving by a Dunkin Donuts or Crispy Cream (the pounds just find their way on via osmosis)

leaf nation,
fruits and vegetables are very healthy for you. There are many products that are not healthy, in fact you can find a whole slew of them at your local health store.
Products like weight loss pills that speed up your heart rate are not the way to go trust me. They can be dangerous and do more harm than good.
On the other hand you should look into eating foods that will supress your hunger. Lets go over some foods that will actually do this.
-Oatmeal is full of fiber and will actually make you feel full after you eat it. Not to mention its full of whole grains and is good for your heart. Make sure you only eat 1-2 bowls per day though as anything in large quanaties can be bad for you.
-Drink grean tea, it also supresses your hunger and will actually aid you in weight loss. Its also very healthy for you!
-Make sure you stay away from complex carbs like bread, pasta and cereal. Now these are good from time to time, but if you eat too much they can really make you pack on the weight.
-Eat several small meals per day as this can raise your metabolism and help you burn more calories. You should try to eat like 200-300 calories per meal, this is actually known as calorie shifting and is proven to make you lose weight.
-obviously stay away from fast food and other high fat foods. They will only do harm and actually make you crave them more. Also avoid junk food as its the same way.
Basically just increase your exercise, eat more oatmeal and drink green tea along with several small meals per day and your good! Its not that hard really, just make sure you get lean meats and fresh vegtables in also. Hope this helps! Good luck :)
