Weight Loss, Please Help!?

by admin - January 31st, 2010. Filed under: Natural Weight Loss.

Hi, im 5ft7in and a size 10(UK, I think that is an 8 in US sizes). I undertake regular exercise (about 6 hours of sport a week, not including walking places etc) and eat way below the GDA for calories for a woman (averagely I consume 1000 calories a day). Still, I find it really difficult to shed weight, I am slightly pear shaped and just want to lose some from my hips and thighs. I have always been slim, but went up to a size 12 about a year ago, I obviously have gone back to a 10, but seem to have plateaued. My friends say that this is probably my natural weight and that I shouldn’t worry about being curvy, but I just want to have better proportions, can anyone give me advice? Anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks!

Your not losing weight because you are not eating enough. You’re almost starving your body, and when you do this your body holds on to the fat you have. Please eat, but just eat healthy foods and at least consume 2,000 a day. The amount of physical activity you do, plus eating wholesome healthy foods will definitely take the weight off you, until you get to a size you like.

I feel your pain lol.. thats my bodyshape too.
Ive found that Interval training has helped. Pushing my body to the breaking point for a short time, then taking a short rest, then doing it again. Like ive been sprinting a lap, then walking half a lap, then sprinting again.
Also, ive been having luck with a volumetric based diet. Its eating foods high in water content and low in calories (like veggie soups, veggies, fruit, smoothies, lettuce etc) and staying away from the carbs.
    good luck!

As said in an answer above, you won’t lose weight by not eating. You can eat… just eat the healthy stuff. also, not eating might make you less active in the sports you play and this may add to your weight loss problem. So eat… seriously.

If you’re working out 6 hours per week and only eating 1000 calories a day, you may be sending the wrong message to your body’s metabolism. You may be sending your body signals to store more calories than it should because it’s not getting enough calories on a regular basis to support your activity. You can get a free account at http://BeachBodyCoach.com/juliebutts where you can have access to free fitness tools to help you gage how much you should be eating and how many calories your body will burn each day just to support its basic functions. Figure out how much you should be eating and then, make sure you’re eating about every three hours to keep your metabolism fired for its best performance. Yep, I fight the pear shape, too. I am the same height and size. I’ll be 40 in March and had a baby when I was 35. It has been very hard to shed the last 10 lbs to get back where I was and I think that is what happens to a lot of women as they get older (not all). Unfortunately, it could be your “new normal weight” as I call it!! LOL Maybe you need to switch up your exercise regimen and write down everything you’re eating to make sure it’s really that number of calories cuz I was told you can lose weight on 1300 calories so I would think you should be losing weight. Good luck!!
