Fruit Diet Question??

by admin - July 13th, 2010. Filed under: Natural Weight Loss.

I am trying to lose a little weight over the summer, and in the process I’ve changed the majority of my diet to be fresh food. I eat a TON of fruit, which I know is good for you, but I also know there is a ton of sugar and carbs in fruit. Pineapple for example. I was wondering if all the sugar and carbs in pineapple is not helping with my weight loss goals…? I know the carbs are good and the sugar is natural, but it’s still sugar and carbs, none the less. I also eat a lot of grapes, strawberries, carrots, celery, cantaloupe, cucumbers, cauliflower and watermelon. Should I keep eating like this? If not, what should I stop eating?
BTW-
I’m not ONLY eating fruit. I also eat a lot of fish and boca burgers (no bun).

For some time my diet was majorly fruit. However eating too much acidic fruit such as pineapple and oranges, caused me to get peptic ulcers (nothing too serious but once you have them they are likely to reoccur)
Also you are right about a lot of sugar in fruit.
Sugars do convert to fat, and depending on the sugar the energy release is too quick therefore somewhat of a useless carb.
You should replace some of the fruit with nuts, muesli, more veggies. You should look into “low GI ” foods. This link may help, give you a better idea of what foods will give you energy all day and what may be causing problems in not loosing enough weight.
    Good luck.
    P.S low GI is great
    Avoid high GI.

Hm…why not eliminate the pineapple for a week and see what happens? I agree, fruit is the best sugar for us! Still, if you read a lot of fitness blogs you’ll find that when wanting to lose weight, the higher sugar fruits are usually avoided.
Melon is a great fruit as are blueberries. Give them a shot!

I don’t think you should exclude any fruit, the more fruit, the better. I also heard that grapefruit is great especially when dieting, but how about vegetables?
Are you eating any salads? Maybe some grilled chicken can substitute the fish from time to time. Perhaps a salad can sort of change the fruit routine as well.
Other than that, I give you 2 thumbs up, you’ll lose weight in no time if you keep it up!

Don’t over eat fruit. You can still gain weight through excessive sugar. Do a lot of exercise. If you only need to lose a few pounds, running is the most effective. Remember, you calorie intake must be less than the calories you burn. Many people who are overweight have decided not to diet per se, but to concentrate on engaging in regular physical activity and maintaining healthy eating habits, emphasizing lowered fat consumption, and an increase in vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Here’ an article on realistic approach: http://www.weight-loss-burn-fat.com/A-Re…
Also losing fat is not as hard as maintaining your weight.
